Poble Nou, meaning "new town" in Catalan, is a neighborhood of Barcelona where I lived and became interested in the Romani camps throughout the area. Built of found materials, and sandwiched between new tech building developments as part of city initiative 22@ and historical Modernista structures, they inspired these works, which consist of thousands of pieces of painted paper sewn together into four large paper installations.
